A population is a group of individuals, objects or measurements that are of interest to a statistical study.
A population is a group that we want to know something about when we do surveys. A population can consist of all the people in Sweden, all the nuts in a purchased lot or all the weights of hockey players in New York Rangers. A population can be said to be the target of interest.
