Trigger

A trigger is, in the field of technical analysis, a condition that signals a purchase decision or a sell decisions in a stock when the condition is met.

A trigger is something you are waiting for to happen before you want to buy or sell a stock. A trigger could be that the stock price must rise above 100 before we buy it, we buy the stock if the stock price rises above 100. Triggers can also be more complicated with a lot of conditions to be met.
